So I haven’t updated in awhile.

22 01 2009

I didn’t have the best Autumn.

So I stopped posting. I fell into my own lil world with me, myself and I and had to get over some stuff. The outcome? Well, I learned a few things and I have made some life decisions that will benefit me and my kids. In the end that is all that matters anyways. (nope I am not gonna bash anyone online, I have more class than that.)

So, with that being said and Karma on my side (cause I feel great!) I am going to just share a quick couple of links for ya and some of my favorite spots to check out when the boys and I are looking for something to do (especially on them rainy days lol)

So in the next week the kids and I are starting an indoor garden to be moved outside once the weather warms up. You may think it is too early but we are starting with herbs and working our way up from there :)

Hopefully the cold snap will end soon and maybe…just maybe? Mother Nature will give us an early spring after all this cold and dreary weather? Here is hoping :)

A world without water?

22 01 2009

Yes. I will happen. Not oceans drying up but, fresh water, the water you use to drink and bathe and live with is running out.

The Great Lakes region has been under drought conditions for the past decade.

Lake Mead in Nevada is experiencing the same problem.

A world without water?

It is good to be aware of these issues, just because you turn your tap on and water comes out doesn’t mean there isn’t a crisis! Be water wise…please!

Let mother nature water your lawn and trees.

Don’t wash your car every week.

Beware of the amount of the water you use to wash dishes, clothes and to clean in your home.

Cut back on your shower time. HAVE A SHOWER rather than a bath.

Bathe in rainwater (we had to do this as kids and it is very cool)!

Plant a garden (even on your patio of an apartment you can do this) and water it with only rain water if you can! (and remember gardens only have to be watered 2 or 3 times aweek in the evening or night to get the BEST results and bang for your watering)

Think of the little things. The easiest things to change can make a world of difference!

And read the link above about Lake Mead. It will make you wonder and make you think! :)

Umm Dante?

27 11 2008

You Scored as Dante Alighieri

According to you most of humanity will spend at least some of their afterlife in hell. You have a high likelihood of being exiled, but anyone as bloody fucking romantic as you deserves what they get. You have an exceptional moral code, overshadowed by the fact that you yourself cannot uphold it.

Your existence bears a definite irony, although of fairly Christian morality, many pagans, satanists, communists, and intellectuals admire you and your works for all the wrong reasons.

Also, the brighest star in your sky is never going to be your lover…

It takes a lot of grief to be the cartographer of hell.

Blog Action Day ~ Poverty

16 10 2008

Quick note… lots going on.

13 10 2008

Well, I havent updated in a while (and just got on this blog lol), But, I shut down 3 others and have had life hand me some wicked lemons… it’s a good thing I make fabulous lemonade! :)

Tomorrow is the federal election for Canada. I am asking all my fellow Canucks out there to vote strategically, go to this site… www.voteforenvironment.ca and see what you can do to make a real difference! (and no I do not support the liberals) but, I do support the enviromental issues and the real issues some parties are talking about!

I broke my foot and am forcing myself to walk without a cane so I do not become dependent on it. I hate having to hobble around but, it should be 100% in a couple of weeks (if not sooner).

On another note, tomorrow is Blog Action Day 2008 (October 14, 2008) and all I am asking you to do is check this site out here… Blog Action Day and if you are on Digg please go here Digg It and digg it! :) , you can also follow Blog Action Day on Twitter.

Today is Canadian Thanksgiving!!! So, Happy Turkey Day to my fellow Canucks and remember to be thankful for what you have and be grateful you have what you have and of course do something this week for someone else. Whether its donate a bag of food to the local food bank or $5 to some homeless guy on the street or helping out a neighbour by cutting their grass or bake some muffins for your friend who has a bunch of lil kids (nut free is best) just do something to for someone else to be thankful that you touched their life, if even for a minute.

Ike Shmike… he had nothing for me!

15 09 2008

We headed out! Anticipating big crashing waves into the pier at Port Dover and this is what we got… not much!

Oh well, another day and some photos to share… someday I will see the waves crash again at the pier and I will hopefully have my camera with me to capture the moment!

Rain and Text Messages.

14 09 2008

For 2 days I have been getting consistant text messages from Environment Canada and The Weather Network. Rain Warning! Tropical depression Ike is on his way. So we are going to get lots and lots of jungle type rain! We kinda need it. We have been considered under draught conditions for a few years and water levels need to get back up but, its rain. Big ol’ fat rain (as Forrest would say).

So, this morning the texts started at 6 am. It was fine because I was already up but, I get it, really I do… HEAVY RAIN, LOTS OF RAIN, A CRAP LOAD OF RAIN! 16 text messages and they all say the same thing. I know I am whining again but, nothing else to do in the rain but whine… lol well I can take pics from the car. :)

Today we are heading to Dover to take pics of the waves… hoping for a decent couple of swells as this depression rolls through and hopefully give the kids something to talk about at school tomorrow. :)

Dover the last time we were there…

Well, it’s raining.

13 09 2008

Love the fall. The seasons changing is such a beautiful experience to me. The colours of fall are impeccable though. The sunrises and sunsets, the moon, trees, flowers, leaves… they are all just majestic and vibrant in the fall.

But, today and tomorrow and probably Monday we are under a rainfall warning. No big deal really, I mean, if it floods we have a place or two to go. It is the dampness in the air and the humidity that bother me. I have been in a mood for a week as is and this, is just the topping on the ice cream sundae! 4″ plus of rain in the next 36 hours… yay! My knees and back hurt, my head is pounding, Tylenol is my friend :) The boys are bored even though I have pulled their cousins in to help entertain them. It will be a long, boring weekend. *sigh*

So this is my first blog, I am whining already lol but, I will laugh a lot and I will try to make you smile. I am a rollercoaster of ideas and emotions so enjoy it with me. Some days I will post lots and lots then, other days you will wonder where I disappeared to.

The one thing I can guarantee is I will add a lot of pictures ’cause that’s what I do. I take pictures. It is my sanity :) Wishing for some sun… just a lil bit :)
